From March 30th to April 4th, 2026, president . Sergio Arzeni, Chairman of the International Network of Small and Medium Enterprises (INSME) ,  former President of the OECD, led a European team visited  Shenzhen.the member of the team included  Ms. Simuna Marzetti, Director of International Affairs at the Italian Ministry of Enterprise and Manufacturing; Mr. Cosimo Del Vecchio, former Chairman of the European Business Innovation Centre o; Mr. Giovanni Zazzarini, Executive Secretary of INSME; Mrs. Hong Quan, Head of INSME China Project and Head of the China Cultural Project in the Puglia Region of Italy; Mr. Roberto Santolamazza, Head of Enterprise Technology Innovation and Transformation for the Government of North Central Italy and Veneto Region; and Mr. Alessio Ruffinelli, Chief Operating Officer of the Industrial Division of the Italian large manufacturing group Umbra.

The International Network of Small and Medium Enterprises (INSME) is an international association jointly established by the OECD and the Italian Ministry of Industry, headquartered in Rome, Italy.  Its members come from 35 countries. include the German Chamber of Commerce, the Italian Chamber of Commerce, and others. Organizations such as the Greek Chamber of Commerce, the Arab Chamber of Commerce, and the European Copyright Office.

 Leveraging the influence of the OECD, INSME focuses on the EU and radiates globally, organically combining government agencies, international organizations, NGOs, business institutions, and chambers of commerce.

 Based on the premise of innovative integration and with the mission of assisting enterprise development, it achieves win-win results through effective cooperation between government and business, and the involvement of financial investment, with its influence spanning the globe.

During this trip to Shenzhen, INSME focused on the concept of “finance, innovation, and technology,” concentrating on discussions in areas such as innovative finance and two-way investment, artificial intelligence and robotics, intelligent manufacturing, new energy, and biomedicine, seeking in-depth cooperation with enterprises in Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area.

On March 30th, their first day in Shenzhen, under the arrangement and leadership of Ms. Gong Limei, Chairperson of the Nanshan Small and Medium Enterprises Association, the INSME delegation visited the Nanshan High-Tech Park. The delegation also conducted in-depth visits to two major robotics companies, Yuejiang Group and UBTECH Robotics Group, both located in Xili District, Nanshan City.

The delegation’s first stop was Nanshan Talent Park. They enthusiastically rode in electric vehicles specially arranged by the Nanshan Enterprise Association, circling the park and experiencing firsthand the unique style of Nanshan District, where “humanities, nature, and technology” are organically integrated.

The delegation specifically visited the Nanshan Talent Park Science and Technology Exhibition Hall. With clear explanations from English-speaking guides, the delegation gained a basic understanding of Nanshan District’s technology landscape. From artificial intelligence to humanoid robots, from dexterous hands to brain-computer interfaces, from industrial automation to smart living, the comprehensive innovation demonstrated by Nanshan’s technology companies left a deep impression on the delegation.

After visiting the Talent Park, , accompanied by Director Gong Limei, the delegation team proceeded to Yuejiang dobot Group, located in Xili Science and Technology Park, Nanshan District.

Upon entering dobot group , the delegation was greeted by an electronic welcome sign for the INSME group, which impressed Chairman Segio with the sincere hospitality of the team. The CAPUCCINO made by a coffee robot in the company’s reception area accustomed to traditional coffee, give Italian a refreshing and innovative experience.

At the start of the meeting, Director Gong first introduced the structure and work of the Nanshan District Small and Medium Enterprises Association, as well as the Nanshan District’s talent attraction and incentive programs. The association’s mechanism for assisting SME development through integration with financial institutions and banks left a deep impression on the delegation.

Talent is key to technological development. The Shenzhen Municipal Government and the Nanshan District Government, including the enterprise association, have made tremendous efforts to attract top global talent and ensure their success and significant impact. This prompted INSME Chairman Segio to rethink the association’s operational management model. Furthermore, the Vice President and co-founder of Dobot Group reviewed  development history and outlined the company’s future prospects. Dobot , a leading Chinese industrial robot company, has gone global and become China’s largest exporter of intelligent manufactural  robots. In the future, the company will combine intelligent manufacturing with AI, making new efforts in the field of integrated hardware and software solutions for intelligent manufacturing.

The delegation visited Dobot Group’s exhibition hall. Roberto Santolamazza, head of manufacturing in north-central Italy, showed great interest in Dobot industrial intelligent robots and plans to organize a special delegation of Italian intelligent manufacturing companies to visit Nanshan and Dobot again in June 2026 to discuss specific project cooperation.

In addition, the delegation also visited UBTECH Robotics Corp. and, accompanied by the Minister of International Cooperation, toured UBTECH’s global exhibition hall.

As early as 2020, Nanshan UBTECH’s robots were already in use in Italian hospitals. During this visit, the INSME delegation will consider bringing UBTECH’s robots to Italian museums, including integrating the latest industrial robots with Italian manufacturing.

In addition to Nanshan District, the delegation also visited Futian, Guangming, and Pingshan Districts, touring Huawei Digital Energy, Honor headquarters, the Xiangmihu Financial District and Hetao District, and BYD headquarters.

Following the visits, the INSME delegation gained a deeper understanding of Shenzhen. In June 2025, the delegation will lead another delegation of Italian companies to Shenzhen to discuss specific cooperation details.
